| The letter was delivered in utmost secrecy--the hooded messenger pleased to find Tyltin absent from his chambers when the note was slipped beneath the door. It's a folded piece of parchment containing a pendant on a simple leather cord. The note is obviously in a lady's hand-- letters impeccably formed, content carefully considered. The pendant itself is roughly carved in the shape of a sun, from the same stone used as flint. It's curiously warm to the touch. T,
I do not know when the charge will begin, but I expect everything will move swiftly once the ranks are called-- I wanted this delivered ahead of time.
As a child I attended a tournament at my father's manor. As the men stepped into the ring to face off against one another, each would receive a token--usually a silk kerchief or a scarf, from a lady, to bring him luck.
As you do not pretend at playing the part of gallant knight, and I am no lady in waiting (and the sisters have kept my kerchiefs for little silken hostages), I thought perhaps this item might be more appropriate.
I know my faith has always been tiresome to you-- irritating at the best of times and infuriating at the worst, so I will not bore you with the details of this item's significance or of it's history. Suffice to say, I would rest easier knowing you had it as you marched on Valys--consider it a favour to friend.
I will not hope to see you when the campaign is through, if only because I would prefer that you make it through unscathed.
Good luck.
Yours,
