Description: Marianna’s dark, glossy hair was neatly pinned back and concealed with an embroidered kerchief. Her skin was distinctively suntanned and sported a light dusting of freckles; marking her as an outdoorsy type. The watery color of her eyes could barely be distinguished as blue. They were misleadingly ominous with their dark, prominent pupils against the pale irises. Her eyebrows were thin and straight, transforming her face into that of a serious yet lively expression. Marianna was dressed in a freshly starched blouse and a navy bodice accompanied with a matching skirt. She had an earthy and faintly medicinal scent.

Background:
Marianna’s father, Bohemond, was originally a lesser Thegn residing in Hrvesgott, Tsgerl, before the Crown Prince Uhtred sacked it. Fortunately he had been away visiting one of his grown children and thus escaped death. Unfortunately, the rest of his children, his wife and parents were not so lucky.

Overcome by guilt and shock he made a reckless vow to seek retribution. His promise, however, grew dormant over the following year as he focused his attentions on the politics. He feigned loyalty to Tylthin.

On the second year anniversary of Hrvesgott’s downfall, Bohemond converted his mind back towards revenge. He remarried with the intentions of fathering the perfect accomplice; a son whom he could mold into a tool. He needed help and he was hoping beyond hope that the Valentis would return.

The infant was born female, named Marianna, and a more subtle technique for murder had to be hatched. She was raised to be honourable and loyal to those of high rank but that family ties trumped all. Marianna obeyed these rules easily; they made sense to her. She understood her role as daughter well, and never questioned the morals of her father’s wishes, she had in fact, been born to do this.

The method would be have poison; quick and simple, Bohemond decided. Now all that was needed was an excuse for Marianna to be in the Capital in the first place. The job of a healer fit perfectly, like a puzzle piece. How ironic would it be to entrust your wellbeing with someone with the intentions of killing you?

They would have to wait until she was grown and (if) the Valentis came back; both were patient people.

Years passed and as her training in medicine proceeded, Marianna found it interesting and enjoyable. She began doing extensive research in ancient and foreign techniques. Marianna happened to learn of a certain concoction that paralyzed every muscle in the body, including the diaphragm; curare. And then, as luck would have it, Drysllthen appeared, a Valentis returned.

After a brief meeting with her father discussing her discovery and the Prince’s arrival they decided it was time for her to travel to the Capital to “expand” her medicinal knowledge and gain valuable “experience” while conveniently living in the same house as Drysllthen.
