Description:
A smooth unlined face and sleek blonde hair suggested the true youth of the Lady Ysdale, but her courtly carriage and impeccable manners lent her an air of age. Rarely did one see her hair in any style put a smooth upsweep curling back from her face, no strand out of place. (Guh, cannot write desc, will work on this later..but see..LONG BACKGROUND)
Character Background:
For much of her youth, her home county of Zsongrill churned in the civil war that gripped all of Nharati. Death was common in those days. She lost both her father (a minor thegn) and her brother as they fought for Tyltin in his assault on Haldesdale for the family had lost faith in Raegnold on the throne, or perhaps saw the inevitability of Valenti rule. The death of her father forced the young woman along with her mother and siblings to be dependent on a distant cousin, who thought his payment for such care should be the affections of the young Cordelia.
Cordelia, however, had higher aims, and when the newly made Ealdorman of Zsongrill found himself in want of a wife (for his first had succumbed to a wasting illness some said .. others, to his rage), she convinced her guardian that she should be presented, reasoning that it would improve the family's lot. The offer was immediately accepted, for what virile man would not want the pretty young blonde thing as his wife?
Wedded bliss it was not, for the Ealdorman was a gruff demanding man, quick with a temper that often left bruises. That Cordelia bore it with dignity seemed only to anger him more, and while she conceived quickly, her husband's appetites tore it from her just as quickly and made recovery nearly impossible. Thus when a swift fever deprived her of him, she was relieved to don the black and veil, but her hair is nearly grown now, and dependence his brother will never satisfy.
