Description: A bit bookish for a noble, he seemed for all the world like a graying boy of 18. His jet-black hair had only begun to gray, owing to the youth of his appearance, but lost some to the wrinkles around his eyes and disconnected, ever-furrowed brow. Aging well but with a tired intellect in his marble green eyes, the fellow did not command respect, but more confounded it, in the eyes of those that looked upon him. The man was dressed in broken-in trousers but a fine tunic he seemed to wear with some disdain, and seemed not at home in. When he spoke it was slowly and deliberately, in a soft tone of voice, with the doeish eyes of a true introvert. His hands were thick, deft but undelicate, and worn from the ink and soot of endless puttering.

Character Background:
Armaud was always the tinkerer and the mender of the house. His parents admonished this fascination as unfit for his station. Thought cold at first by tutors and siblings alike, he later revealed an unexpected humour that came in deliberate strokes from behind his somewhat stern behaviour. A naturally gifted maker of things, the idleness of lesser nobility drove the young man into solitude. Poor people skills found him berating any craftsman or servant performing a task he felt he could do better. If not for the (possibly misplaced) compassion of a seller's daughter, he would likely have never found a wife. By all accounts, his kind but neglectful behaviour drove his new wife, Cecily, slightly mad.

It was the birth of Nalani, their daughter that broke her curse and united the two. Nalani showed all her father's obsession and aloofness but her mother's unique beauty and grace. As expected, the parental behaviour often fell to Cecily, who had taken comfort in watching the father and daughter puzzle each other in the library of their ancestral house.

When Armaud finally took some fatherly initiative to teach Nalani to ride on horseback, tragedy struck. Nalani was thrown from the horse, who Armaud had neglected to break properly, and fell into a 3-day coma. Armaud's cold demeanor died somewhat, in watching what he thought was his daugther's death. Upon her waking, he was so terrified and sullen that he forsake many of the obsessive hobbies that had always enslaved him. Though a more receptive father and husband, now, the obsessions had been replace by an unflinching desire to protect his daughter. Some of their mutual respect, including his belief that she was safe to make her own decisions, was lost.

Still antisocial and with no people skills, he has sworn himself to Drysllthen Valenti, though likely has no great appetite for politics. Rather, his ongoing obsession is the exclusion of Nalani from anything that could conceivably do her harm.
