Description:
Iaon strikes the balance between the weathered workhorse and the prettyboy noble: the capable young man. His mind is equally a teetering combination of brilliance and utter obliviousness. His laidback personally tends to show in his poise but never quite loses his proper gentleman posture and mannerisms that ultimately gives him an air as comforting as his appearance. His tireless work providing him with a tall and leanly muscular frame, rough calloused fingers on strong hands, dark wavy locks that tend to curl at the ends, gentle brown eyes that look like they've never once held anger. He's something of a hit with the ladies, though he seems unwitting of it.

Character Background:
Henry Dulchaointigh was a soldier as a youth who turned master mason and siege architect who had part in the building of many fortresses and castles of the last 20 years and several of his modified designs for siege weaponry is commonly used by other architects still.

He married his first wife, a second cousin names Fainche, just after he returned from his soldiering days. He spent a very brief career as a brewer's assistant but it was when he was brought on to help with repairs at a fortress in Ygriss that he found his true talents. He had two sons, Trysten and Kearney, before Fainche took ill and passed away just after Kearney's 5th birthday. In loneliness and need for a mother to his boys, Henry remarried shortly after to a thegn's beautiful young daughter, Cirelyne Vicari, where Iaon and his sister Kaeli were born over the next few years.

Iaon grew up under the much older and aggressive brothers who were oppressive and always ready to give him a hard time, but he simply rolled with the punches whether in the roughhousing and sword-sparring, or at the dinner table. Times changed tragically when Henry and Trysten both perished due to a shifted support being that crashed a tower scaffolding and shortly after, Cirelyne's father was the victim of murder by a never uncovered assailant. As the closest and eldest male heir to the Vicari estate, the still young Kearney left their father's work to fulfill the administrative needs of the estate, grateful to be rid of being a part of the occupation that took family from him.

Carefree and youthful Iaon took up the mantle in their stead, though instead of such a boy handling the work crews and expense of equipment, he dedicated himself to design and repair through practice and study. But for the first couple of years, he took to traveling, even in the dangerous times that the lands were in, to take in knowledge while clearing his mind of the grief. During this brief whirlwind of a time period: he met his first love, fought with a militia, dabbled in painting, went adventuring, acted as a courier for an Ealdorman, and found a love for fishing. But on his return to Ygriss, he followed into his father's footsteps with ease, though with interests that made him obsessed with the discovery of the unusual through science, nature, and religion; using their unique aspects for his hobbies, his work and, often to the unfortunate luck of others, his conversation topics. He had become closer with his surviving brother but his real family ties are with the sister whom he watches over with fondness.

It wasn't long after that his skills and sense of unbreakable duty had come to the attention of all the right eyes and ears. This lead him to Valys to be one of the heads to take up repairing and renovating the magnificent castle for its return Valenti rule. Along with being a supervising foreman for the repairs, he'd also found himself granted the position of Valys' castellan.

He's an eccentric, through and through. While a compassionate soul and a pacifist at heart with being prone to childish joy at the unusual, his pleasant outlook on even the darkest of places give him the appearance of innocence and naivety is misleading. He's never afraid to speak his mind (even if he does so awkwardly) or get serious to see any task that needs done to be done. You can be sure that fewer men will be more zealous about their duties.
