Description: An aging scholar withered and wrinkled beyond his years stood with a frailty rarely seen in a man. His wild gray hair was tamed only by a loose leather strap at the nap of his neck. Watery blue and far-sighted eyes were framed by caterpillar eye brows and deeply cut crows feet. His right eye was magnified by a strange contraption. It was a circular piece of glass rimmed with leather and attached to his head with a small harness. A beard just as tangled as his mane was scattered with crumbs and ink blotches. His disgruntled appearance and wheezy voice were enough displayed to mark him scanty in the money department. Contradictory to that, his red tunic was finely made with a hemline of dancing yellow dragons. More convincingly was the hefty pouch of coins so boastfully placed on his belt.

Character Background: Since his youth in Dulfwyn, Cedric has been referred to as, “As sly as a fox,” and as the years progressed it simply evolved into, “Cedric! You’re a sly old fox, and you know it!” whenever the fellow found himself in a spot of mischief. The nickname stuck, and those close to him called him Fox.

As drawn to shenanigans as he was, he soon found it was equally matched by a fondness towards knowledge and books. He became well versed in many forms of literature and even attempted to venture from the norm and learn a foreign language. He married his childhood sweetheart, a lesser noble, and in his mid twenties they moved together to the capital of Nharati. There he took up the position of librarian. He also made friends with a Knight, who taught him close-combat.

Cedric wasn’t fond of children and postponed his wife’s wishes for a baby until he neared thirty. It seems that he had a reason to be reluctant, for his wife died a few weeks after childbirth. He raised his young daughter gently; trying to fill in for the missing maternal figure. But when Uhtred passed away and those loyal left for Ygriss with Garnett he too accompanied them. He brought his four-year-old along for most of the journey, but chose to leave her with distant relatives while he continued on with Drysllthen to Leugeilean.

While in Leugeilean with the Drysllthen he devoted himself to teaching him as he could not his own child. He tried to make up for his absence in his daughter's life by trading letters with her. And although the interaction was minimal they were able to form a proper father-daughter relationship.

When the company moved back to Valwyn there was a small amount of resentment to return on Cedric's part. It was the place of his wife’s demise but instead of sulking he rejoiced in the thought of seeing the wonderful library again.

Although he now had a nice, safe home he did not invite his daughter to move back with him, for she had firmly rooted in Ygriss and had started a family of her own.
